Trakošćan was built in the late 13th century as a small fortress. The first known owners were the Celjski family, who ruled over the Zagorje principality.
Its present day dimensions, Trakošćan acquired in the 16th century.

Visiting the museum in the castle. The knights’ room, the hunting room, the music salon and the painter Julijana Erdody’s study shouldn’t be missed. A walk along the lake and a coffee break.
Arrival at Varaždin.
Sightseeing: the cathedral, the town theatre,the city hall, Sermage Palace, Ursuline church and the monastery, the town square,The Old Town – fortress, the town cemetery from the 18th century, one of the pearls of garden architecture.
Lunch. We recommend the restaurant ”ZlatneGorice” and traditional Croatian dishes.
You can also enjoy the view on many vineyards and hills.
